MT. PLEASANT — A scouting pow wow is scheduled for Jan. 31, Feb. 7 and Feb. 14 from 8:30 a.m.-noon each day at the Mt. Pleasant LDS Stake Center, 295 S. State St., for boy scouts ages 11 to 17 years old seeking to complete merit badges.
All are welcome who would like to participate, and registration is free, but some classes require fees for supplies. The merit badges offered at the event include the following:
Required for Eagle: citizen in the community, citizen in the nation, citizen in the world, personal management, emergency preparedness, camping, communications, first aid, family life and personal fitness.
Not Required: scholarship, home repair, aviation, crime prevention, fire safety, leatherwork, art, fingerprinting, electricity, Indian lore, coin collecting and chemistry.
An additional class will be held at the event to instruct scouts on how to fill out Eagle applications. Two to four merit badges can be worked on per scout this year.
This is the 23rd year that the Mt. Pleasant Stake has provided the pow wow. Scouts can register online at http://utahscouts.org/registration/calendardetail. asp?ActivityKey=476610. Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis.
